Easy and Delicious LasagnaIngredients:
For the Meat Sauce:
1 pound ground beef 1/2 pound Italian sausage 1 onion, chopped 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 (28 ounce) can tomato sauce 1 (15 ounce) can tomato puree 1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes 1 teaspoon dried oregano 1 teaspoon dried basil 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon black pepperFor the Cheese Sauce:
4 tablespoons unsalted butter 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour 4 cups whole milk 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon black pepperFor the Lasagna:
12 lasagna noodles 1 cup grated mozzarella cheeseInstructions:
For the Meat Sauce:
1.
In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat.
Drain any excess fat.

Add the onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
3.
Stir in the tomato sauce, tomato puree, diced tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper.
Bring to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
For the Cheese Sauce:
1.
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.

Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
3.
Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth.
Bring to a simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.

Stir in the Parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, salt, and black pepper.
To Assemble the Lasagna:
1.
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2.
Spread 1 cup of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
3.
Top with 4 lasagna noodles.
4.
Spread with half of the remaining meat sauce.
5.
Repeat layers.
6.
Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese.
7.
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Tips:
To make ahead, assemble the lasagna as directed but do not bake.
Cover and refrigerate for up to 24 hours.
Before baking, bring to room temperature and then bake as directed.
You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for the ground beef.
Add cooked vegetables, such as spinach, mushrooms, or zucchini, to the meat sauce.
Use your favorite pasta sauce instead of making your own.
