Spaghetti and MeatballsIngredients:
For the Meatballs:

Make the Meatballs:

In a large bowl, combine all the meatball ingredients.
Mix thoroughly until well combined.

Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs.
Make the Sauce:
1.
In a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat, sauté the onion and garlic in a little olive oil until softened.

Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, red wine (if using), oregano, basil, sugar, and salt and pepper to taste.
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for at least 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
Cook the Spaghetti:

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
2.
Add the spaghetti noodles and cook according to the package directions.
Combine the Meatballs and Sauce:

Add the meatballs to the simmering sauce.
Cook for an additional 30 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through.
Assemble the Dish:

Drain the spaghetti and return it to the pot.
2.
Pour the meatball sauce over the spaghetti and toss to coat.
3.
Serve immediately, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil (optional).
