Homemade Pizza with Spicy Italian Sausage and Roasted Bell PeppersIngredients:
For the Dough:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting 1 teaspoon active dry yeast 1/2 teaspoon sugar 1 teaspoon salt 1 cup warm water (105-115°F)For the Sauce:

1/2 pound spicy Italian sausage, cooked and crumbled 1/2 cup roasted red bell peppers, sliced 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese Optional:

Make the Dough:
1.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.

Add the warm water to the dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms.
3.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
4.
Form the dough into a ball, place it in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Make the Sauce:
1.
In a food processor or blender, puree the whole tomatoes until smooth.

Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
Add the onion and cook until softened.
3.
Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
4.
Stir in the tomato puree, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
Bring to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
Assemble the Pizza:
1.
Preheat oven to 500°F (260°C).

Punch down the dough and divide it in half.
Roll out each half into a 12-inch circle.
3.
Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the crusts.
4.
Top with the cooked sausage, roasted bell peppers, mozzarella cheese, and Parmesan cheese.
5.
Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
6.
Garnish with fresh basil leaves, if desired.
