For the Dough:

Make the Dough:

In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in the warm water.
Let stand for 5 minutes, until foamy.

Add the flour, salt, and olive oil to the bowl.
Stir until a dough forms.

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Make the Sauce:

In a medium saucepan, combine the crushed tomatoes, onion, garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.

Bring to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
Assemble the Pizza:

Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C).

Punch down the dough and divide it in half.
Roll out each half into a 12-inch circle on a lightly floured surface.

Transfer the dough to a greased baking sheet.

Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border.

Top with your desired toppings.

Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the crust is golden brown.
Tips:
For a chewier crust, let the dough rise for longer.
You can also use a pizza stone for a crispier crust.
If you don’t have a rolling pin, you can stretch the dough out with your hands.
